Bal Panchayat – Innovation in Education
Bal Panchayat is an innovative idea which involves formation small groups of children following the pattern of parliamentary system.  It creates a healthy and didactic environment which induces creative and collective learning which leads to skill development of children.

Bal Panchayat enables children express their views, emotions, thinking, feeling and sentiments; here they can play, sleep, laugh, weep, have food and can do many things that enhances their creativity. Children develop many skills like reading habits and expressing their views and conduct some capacity programme to enhance their capacity for the work and to see the things out of the limit, where they will decide that what their limit is.

Bal Panchayat members visited door to door to promote 100% enrolment at the school in the new session and retention of the children at school. They also participated in different Gram Sabhas along with the elders and submitted their demands regarding lack of teachers in the schools, providing playing kits at the Bal Panchayat etc. It was for the first time any child or children as a group have attended Gram Sabha. It improved awareness and confidence level of the children. We supported quorum meetings every month constituting Bal Ward Panch, Bal Sarpanch and Bal Upsarpanch.

The people came from the other state and other organization to see the activities of Bal Panchayats of this area. Last year Bal Panchayat went for road blocking at Phalasia for demanding more subject specific teachers at Birothi school. The education department approved their demand and recruited three new teachers at that school and due to it the overall result of the school become better. Bal Panchayat members participated in a handicrafts exhibition and Drama on child rights in Dilli Hatt, New Delhi organized by Child Rights and You.
