Reproductive and Child Health

Child marriage is a huge problem in our functional areas. Due to early marriage women and adolescent girls suffer disproportionately. Pregnancy at an early age is a major cause of increased mortality rates. People in the area are most sufferers from lacking, inadequacy of “Health Facilities”. Gov. Structure alone is unable to avail; all the essential facilities or reaching to the wide spread population in thousand of the villages, resulting number of children remain from immunisation and number of pregnant women faces the unsafe deliveries, premature birth, malnourished, underweight birth etc.
We adhere to proactive measures like educating youth and creating awareness about reproductive child health. MSS discuss these issues with adolescent groups, women Self Help Groups and in village health groups. Our efforts brought about substantial changes in functional area.

Anganwadi Centres
Mahan Seva Sansthan is implementing its programmes in collaboration with government departments and focuses on national schemes for social welfare. In accordance to these plans, MSS has supported 23 Anganwadi centres in Project villages. We assist and supervised the ANMs to immunize the mother & children. To ensure safe deliveries and reduce infant mortality rates, we accomplished institutional deliveries, deliveries by the trained Dais and TBA (Traditional Birth Attendants). Our village level committees monitor timely visits of the ladies, who underwent the delivery in Maternity centres for observing their health status after delivery in order to ensure safe Motherhood.

Immunization
Immunization

Mahan Seva Sansthan executed vaccination camps with the help of ANM visits in village. Several pregnant mothers and children up to age of one year were directly benefited and immunized. The ANMs make one to one contact with pregnant mothers and new born babies in 40 villages. Children collective groups and CBO members helped in Pulse Polio Campaign at 104 villages. MSS supports awareness campaigns, children groups inform villagers and help ANMs to provide vaccination drops door to door.

Weight Measurement
Mahan Seva Sansthan supported monitoring of children from birth up-to 6 years. A graph prepared with regular data of weight for the purpose of monitoring growth rate for ensuring proper growth and hence reducing mortality. We provided counselling and referred to the specialized doctors to the mothers of malnourished children.

Home Visit and Meetings
MSS supported house visits to meet malnourished woman and children to make them aware. A health register is maintained by village health committee to keep record of malnourished woman and children at family level. To keep track of pregnant women and lactating women, monthly meetings were conducted at village level. During meeting, VHC members give information and explain about importance of taking healthy food, vaccination, weight measurements of children, health check up and safe delivery.

Linkage with main-stream for entitlements
Expected women were motivated to go to trained Dai or hospital for safe delivery. After delivery, we provide them financial benefits under Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) scheme. Newly born children are linked with Anganwadi centers where they gets all benefits provided to children by government. We also collected information regarding condition of weighing machine and report it to the respective department head.
